Designer Matthew Mills from Visualcode Limited based at Medley Park, will be competing in the British Gas Great North Swim 500 on Sunday 5th September. In 2009, an impressive 6,000 swimmers took part over two days at the event, a one-mile outdoor swim in beautiful Windermere, Cumbria. This is Matthew's first event at outdoor swimming and plans on using the event as preparation for the 2011 Great Swim Series.
"Swimming is the main sport in my life due to an old Rugby accident. Luckily I love swimming and am a regular at the 7am swims at Teme Leisure swimming pool in Ludlow. My goal is to just experience the event and see how it unfolds and hope that I set a reasonable time for my first event."
Updates of the day will be available to view at www.visualcode.co.uk or if you have any website or graphic design requirements, please email info@visualcode.co.uk
Hilary Lewis has worked for the NFU Mutual Ludlow as Financial Services Co-ordinator for the last four years. She started running seriously 7years ago and trained herself to the standard of fitness she is at the moment although she has always shown an interest in hill walking. Hilary says “Last year I decided to run the Snowdonia Marathon at 52 years of age and completed it in 5hrs. It was very strenuous but challenging. This year I am running again to better my time. Running is my love I am up around 6am for a good 3mile run most mornings and it's good medicine to keep you mentally and physically fit.
If you would like to contact Hilary about her new adventure, or if you have any general enquiries about the NFU's services, please email hilary_lewis@nfumutal.co.uk
